Songs of the 2013 National Sängerfest
The 61. Nationales Sängerfest Songbook is a culmination of work done by the Wisconsin Sängerbezirk Sängerfest Music Committee after consultation with the Nord-Amierikanischer Sängerbund Director's Forum members.
The songs of the 61. Nationales Sängerfest represent the sixteen German States and were selected based on the research and assistance by many NASB singers in collaboration with German Government agencies and German friends.
The Hauptkonzert/Main Concert on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, will traditionally begin with the national anthem of our guest country, Germany, followed by The Star-Spangled Banner sung by the National Choir.
As the resonance of the national anthems sung by over a thousand voices lingers, we will depart on a journey of song through Germany beginning at the heart, Berlin, with "Das macht die Berliner Luft", performed by the National Choir. The Damenchor will transport us to Nordrhein-Westfalen with "Westfalenlied" and the journey continues to Meklenburg-Vorpommern with "Wenn in stiller Stunde" sung by the Männerchor, to be followed with lyrical passage through the remaining states of Germany.
While the songs of the National Choir, Damenchor and Männerchor melodically guide our adventure, images from the sixteen German states will be projected behind the National Choir creating a visual and musical experience which will make the 61. Nationales Sängerfest one to be remembered and destined to become a prominent event in the written and verbal history of the Nord-Amerikanischer Sängerbund.
The musical journey consummates with our return to America the Beautiful.
